Alexander Jamieson (1782-1850) was a member of the Astronomical Society of London.  This book illustrates the most prominent constellations in the night sky.  The color engravings were accompanied by text that described and analyzed particular constellations and the stars that comprise them.  The brightest stars are marked by centers made of gold leaf.

The constellations Ophiuchus (the Serpent Bearer) and Serpens (the Serpent held by Ophiuchus) are illustrated and in color.  The Milky Way is colored blue.
