DATE Denmark 1761-1871
One of the finest national florae ever produced. In production for over a century. The delicate detail is superb. The Floridanica inspired the fine porcelain table service produced by the Copenhagen porcelain factory from 1790 to 1802. The original Floradanica dinner service was commissioned by King Christian VII from the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Manufactory in 1790. According to tradition, the service was to be a gift to Czarina Catherine II of Russia, sadly she died in 1796 before the 1,802 pieces were finished. King Christian then kept the Floradanica service for himself. It was first used at his birthday banquet on January 29, 1803.
Suggested framing, float mount on parchment colored mat, silver frame with tiny beaded detail as shown: $195 additional
