Original color on wove paper. A fascinating full-length double portrait, showing a woman and a young girl, painted at Fort Pierre. Although it has been surmised that the young girl is a captive, she is wearing silver bangles and is nicely dressed. The woman's robe is richly painted. The Woman's dress instead of being trimmed with elk teeth is trimmed with tiny silver cones which indicates trade with the whites. $6500. |
